At every race meeting at Plumpton, there are three specially qualified Equine vets looking after the welfare of all horses.
During a race, two vets follow the action and can attend any casualty in the same response time as the Paramedic Teams responsible for the jockeys.

The third vet is based at the Stable Yard where a close check is kept on all horses, especially those returning after a race.
Use of Screens
It is now standard practice for screens to be erected around any horse receiving veterinary attention.
This does not reflect on the severity of any injury, but allows the vet some privacy, and the horse a calm environment in which to make a recovery.
Please do not assume the worst if you see screens erected.
Equine care at Plumpton is provided by: The Equine Veterinary Hospital, Arundel, West Sussex, BN18 0BG.
