First Meeting of the Season

I was very pleased to be asked to contribute to the new Plumpton website.

Plumpton is a very unique course for jockeys – everything and everyone are very close to the action making it an extra special atmosphere.

With it being so compact you get to interact much more with the crowd than other racecourses. The course also had a very traditional feel to it which goes down very well in the weighing room.

I have had some great moments at Plumpton over the years, including victory in the Sussex Grand National on Mr Markham in 2002.

I am looking forward to riding at the next meeting on September 20 which is the Ladies Day – let’s hope for some good weather and good fortune for everyone attending.

It would be great to start off with a winner and I’ll be trying to win the Jeffrey Peate leading rider trophy back from Jamie Moore!
