Plumpton Racecourse
Accessibility at Plumpton Racecourse

Accessible Environment

Plumpton Racecourse’s facilities provide an accessible environment for all our racegoers, including those with young children.

SUNFLOWER LANYARD

We are proud to participate in the Sunflower Scheme, where those with non-visible disabilities can feel comfortable in public. Should you see someone wearing a sunflower lanyard, if possible, approach the customer and ask if they need any assistance.

ACCESSIBLE PARKING

Blue Badge holders are given forward parking in the car parks. These parking areas are subject to availability on the day and provide closer proximity to the Racecourse entrances.

COMPANION / PERSONAL ASSISTANT

Should a disabled guest need to bring a carer, the carer is admitted free of charge. Tickets for carers are available from any Ticket Office, and we request that the disabled guest accompanies the carer when collecting the ticket. The Companion/Personal Assistant policy can be found here.

WHEELCHAIR HIRE

There are wheelchairs available, subject to availability, for free hire, one at each of the North & South Entrances.

WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE SHELVES

Our Southdown Bar has wheelchair accessible shelves.

ACCESSIBLE TOILET FACILITIES

There are fully accessible toilets in the Paddock Bar (Sussex Stand Ground Floor) and the Southdown Bar, while there is a further ambulant toilet in the Chaser’s Bar (Lewes Stand). We have a brand new accessible toilet pod positioned by the north entrance, beside the final fence restaurant, which also contains shower facilities.

AUDITORY ASSISTANCE

Audio Induction Loop Systems are available within the Owners &Trainers Bar, the Paddock restaurant and the Chasers Bar.

ASSISTANCE DOGS

Assistance Dogs are permitted to all Enclosures, provided they are on a lead at all times.

VIEWING AREAS

There are two dedicated accessible viewing areas  for wheelchair uses at the Racecourse located within the Grandstand and Paddock enclosure, one close to the home straight South side of the Course Crossing Point in front of the Lewes Stand and another by the Parade ring which is accessible from the Course Crossing Point. The accessible viewing area by the parade ring is large (10ft by 16ft) and is covered.

We would ask that just one person or carer accompanies a disabled guest using these viewing areas to maximise the number of people and benefit from them.

We are happy to make alternative arrangements if necessary; if you have any queries or require assistance, please email racing@plumptonracecourse.co.uk or phone 01273 890383.
